Try A Month Without...Internet Psychos!
Like it or not, the internet has some dark corners. And there are more than a few monsters out there looking to get you.
Sure, you may never have fallen for a Nigerian-prince-email scam, BUT, what about when you mindlessly hop onto that coffee house WiFi because it’s free? What about when you use the same password over and over again just because it's easy?
Remember, it's the monster you don't see, that's going to get you. So protect yourself!
1. When in doubt, opt out. If you did nothing this month but avoided online situations that put yourself at risk, you’d be in great shape. And you could still do the online basics.
2. Shields up! Use a VPN service when browsing on a public network. A VPN will shield your data as it moves between you and the site you are visiting.
3. No skeleton keys! Using a repeated or easily guessable password offers little to no protection. Use a password generator - these are FREE. And use a password manager to keep track of them all! (If you have an Apple device, it comes with a free one called keychain.)
4. Back up any data you would be heartbroken to lose! Lower the stakes of losing any particular device by having your data in more than one location!
Now this is Try A Month Without, so you don't have to buy anything. We just want to explore digital mindfulness. If your digital habits are putting you at risks from internet psychos, we just want you to be mindful of what those risks are and how you can avoid them.
Because there are people online trying to get you...
Ok, so are you ready to try a month without too many subscriptions? Sign up now.
